Oh this weekend. It flew by, just like I’m sure the rest of 2015 will! I can’t believe it’s already December. Christmas will be here before we know it. I’m trying to make the most of the month and hope it doesn’t fly by as quickly as I think it might.
Our weekend started off Friday night when we went to pick out our Christmas tree! We went to a tree farm, with the inside all decorated in a whimsical Christmas look. Unfortunately, the tree prices were just a bit too much for us. We still had fun, though!
Off to Home Depot we went, where we found a great Douglas Fir tree! The prices weren’t bad at all, and we walked away with an 8 foot tree that was perfectly round with minimal bare spots. It can be hard to pick a tree out!
We came home and, after realizing an 8 foot tree looks larger in our house than we thought, cut off a few inches on the bottom and the stem on top, and proceeded to put the lights up. I started to while Aaron put Annabelle to sleep, but I wasn’t good at it, so I drank some wine instead and let Aaron get to work.
Saturday morning we took some Christmas photos of Annabelle (trying to get Christmas cards ordered!) as well as Benson. We also finished decorating it with the ornaments, and then we headed downtown!
My mom was talking about going down last week to check it all out, and I thought it would be fun to take Annabelle. Saturday was such a beautiful day, too. Temps were in the upper 40s and the sun was out. We walked around PPG place, the indoor Marketplace, complete with so many gingerbread houses, trains, another tree, and some entertainment. We proceeded to go to Market Square to view the local vendors, but we didn’t buy anything. I thought about stopping for Santa, but the line was wrapped around the building. No time for that! Lastly, we walked up to see the Creche. If you’ve never heard of this, it’s the Nativity scene. Here’s a bit more about it.
The Pittsburgh Crèche, originally erected in 1999, is a larger-than-life nativity scene and the world’s only authorized replica of the Nativity Crèche that stands outside Saint Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
We finished the night with Aaron’s family over and watched Elf. First of many, this season, I’m sure! I just love that movie.
Sunday included church (which I stood out in the lobby for since Annabelle thought it’d be a fun time to fuss), a trip to Dicks to finish up some shopping, and an afternoon run!
I love when Aaron is home with Annabelle. Not only are they adorable together, and I love seeing Aaron interact with her, but it also gives me some more flexibility. The afternoon was sunny and reached 50, and I had been craving an outdoor run. I pumped, and headed out while it was nice, and Aaron stayed home and had some quality time without me home. Win win! I ended up doing 3.1 miles and loving every minute of it. I still have some pelvic pain but the doctor says that isn’t uncommon. Even with that, though, it felt terrific. I thought about going for 4 but decided I should stick to 3 miles for a bit before pushing it more. Who knows if we get another nice day what I’ll decide to do, though!
Annabelle has been finding her voice more and more. Her little personality is really showing through and we have been having so much fun! Sunday night she was laying on her mat talking away for a good 15 minutes. She was looking at the lights above and loving talking to us! I can’t say I hated it, haha.
Lastly, I managed to get caught up on my blog reading. This past week flew by and I just didn’t get to reading many (or any!) some days. I had plenty of unopened ones that I finally read, and now we’re off to start the week off on an empty feed! haha
And that was our weekend! Today I have a dear friend stopping over and my brother is coming by tonight. Hopefully I’ll get some things accomplished this afternoon!
