Whew, this has been a whirlwind of a weekend! It went so fast and I can’t believe it’s already Monday. It sure was a marvelous one!
Shortly after work, Aaron and I headed to the Market District (huge grocery store full of different areas.. basically everything you would want) to pick up the last for our dinner. I made sure to dress the part, haha.
We had the shrimp ring for our appetizer, but needed the rest.
I wasn’t sure what I was going to get, but Aaron really wanted a New York Strip Steak. I wasn’t feeling the steak, and had really wanted to just order pizza. I will be honest and say I never go to this grocery store, and was shocked to find it had a sub shop, pizza shop, cheese shop, seafood area, and meat area, on top of everything else! It was unreal, but I decided to go with a pizza! It was a coal fired pizza shop, and smelt amazing.
And boy was it! I loved every bite of that pizza, but only ate half on Friday, saving the rest for lunch on Saturday!
We also needed to pick up the most important part of our dinner:
A cookie cake! They are my favorite, and this store makes the best!
Aaron and I had a great time walking around the store and just checking out all of the options. I was impressed with everything, but so happy we chose to just keep it low key this year!
We decided on no gifts, but someone had a different idea.
Romantic, huh? Our house came with one garage opener, so I’ve been living without one, and it’s awful, especially in the winter months going up the steps! You know you’re married and a homeowner when…haha just kidding, I really did LOVE the gift!
I started off the weekend the best way ever…
with a run! My favorite way to start Saturday’s is with a long run. I like to set my alarm and get up and get it all done before Aaron even wakes up. Some people prefer to sleep, but running awakens me more than anything! I was shocked I made it to 8 miles, but I was watching “The Switch” (not done with it yet) and doing some pick ups, so I lost track of time!
After eating breakfast, Aaron and I ran some errands and went to see my dad! We actually had the best news of the weekend and found out he was coming home Sunday morning! Seeing my dad smiling and being able to joke around was the biggest highlight of the weekend. We were not sure how long he might be in the hospital, so to hear they wanted him out (haha not really but he was ready to go!) was great.
Doesn’t he look great?! So much better than the last surgery!
We finished the night by heading over to the in-laws to hang out with the family. We haven’t been over in a while, but it was fun!
After church and some more food prep (post coming Wednesday on all I do for it!), we made a few more trips.
Two batches of granola for Aaron. He’s set for a while!
Our first stop was to head back to the in-laws because Aaron’s brother and his son were over and we haven’t seen either in quite a while. We hung out there for a bit before heading to my parents to see my dad! He is in a bit more pain today as it seems the incision is starting to heal (you know that itching/aching feeling that comes from that) and just from moving in the car and getting situated at home! Regardless, he was very excited to be home and in the comfort of his home! He has no function of his arm, and some pain in the muscles above his shoulder, but the doctors are hopeful with time and therapy those will improve.
We spent the rest of the night just hanging out and getting ready for this week!
