Hey everyone! Long time, no chat. I am glad to be home, but missing all the time I was able to spend with my family.
My trip was fantastic. We had such a blast, even with not so good weather. I wish I would be lying, but the weather never went above the mid 70s, but most days were sunny. There was no stopping us, however, because we were in the water and doing water sports every day.
I won’t bore you with all the details of my trip right now.. mostly because I can’t think of it all as my mind is in wedding planning overload! I had full intentions to write mini recaps every night so I would remember things, but it never really happened. I would much rather play games with my family, have some girl talk, pig out on deliciousness (more on that Wednesday!) or watch a movie as a family. It’s those times that were the best.
Aaron and I arrived early on Saturday so we were able to spend time on the boat before our house was ready at 4. This day turned out to be one of the nicest, and we were able to get the keys and head in earlier. We were pleasantly surprised when my cousin and her husband and 3 kids were actually in Deep Creek and would be at the house shortly. It made for a fun time hanging out in the water.
This year, we had less family than typical, but it was still a blast. My cousin John is taking summer classes at Penn State, so he was only able to come for the weekend. Other family members couldn’t get time off or couldn’t come in because they were coming in for my wedding in a few weeks. I am just happy to see them at my wedding!
Monday: Taco Night! Mmm and it was a day with nice weather. It was sunny, and had no rain. We also ended the night with a campfire and roasted some S’mores.
Tuesday: We spent the entire afternoon in the water. It was a rough start in the morning with some rain, but it turned out to be beautiful and perfectly relaxing. I also tried to teach my cousins how to wakeboard!
Wednesday: We had gorgeous weather and were able to enjoy the outdoors all day. It made me laugh that back home became flooded due to the rain they had, while we enjoyed sun all day! This also happened to be one year from the day Aaron proposed last year, so we headed back to where he did it and had appetizers with my cousins! Just like a year before…
Thursday: Bridget and I took my two youngest cousins on tube rides! I also had a ton of fun with Aaron on the tube, but I just loved seeing the little ones have a blast riding the waves.
Friday: Though it was really yucky outside (mid 60s with rain all day), we made the most of it and went on an obstacle course with a zipline! I won’t lie; we definitely were bad mouthing how slow it took people to do this obstacle course. We really didn’t think it would be hard. Let me say we all lied. Holy crap I was sweating and my heart was racing; I was so nervous I would fall! I am hoping to get some more pictures this week and will share with you when I do!
Doesn’t look hard, but I swear they were!
The week felt like it flew by, and I wish we could go back. Being that we only go once a year, it makes it that much more special to all of us. Regardless of the weather, we make the most of it, and just have a blast. I have yet to look through (no joke) over 3,000 pictures, so these were just some highlights. Once I have time to look through more, I will for sure be posting them! Maybe later this week…
Have you been on vacations that didn’t have the best weather?
Do you take family trips each year or rarely go on vacation?
Of course I am joining on in with the MIMM fun with Katie!
