I know I am a few days late to sharing my weekend, but better late than never, right? Truth was, my weekend wasn’t over on Monday, so I didn’t want to share it yet! Add in that I was actually out living and having fun, and I didn’t want to stop to make sure I blogged about it. I think that’s important to remember with blogging. It will always be there, but you need to make sure you are actually out living your life and not trapped behind a computer screen. That being said, don’t apologize for not blogging! There is no reason to!
Alright, moving on to my amazing weekend!
After some errands and a workout, Aaron and I tackled some of the outside. We’re hoping to get started on this back porch/deck soon, but had to dig up the yard that it is going into. We worked until after 9 because it stayed light out so long! What an awesome start to summer.
We were up bright and early working on the porch again. My brother in law and sister in law came over to help, along with my mother in law (my family was all gone for the weekend). They were huge help and we got way more done than we thought we would all weekend.
We even managed to get a large pile of wood out of our yard and taken to the dump. It’s really hard to get rid of that stuff around here, but we found a pretty reasonably priced dump. Only one or two more truck fulls, and maybe our yard will be empty of wood from garden boxes and the back porch!
We called it a night around 7, and both had plans for the evening. However, after sitting on the couch and watching a little TV to relax, we both fell asleep and woke up hours later! Oops!
After church, we headed down to the river to make sure we could put our boat in on Monday. After returning home, I baked sugar cookies to make ice cream sandwiches, and chocolate chip cookies for our friend’s cookouts! My uncle and cousins also stopped down to help us with what to do for the deck. Aaron had some questions and my uncle has built two decks before and was a huge help.
Later on, we went to our friends, Alison and Mike’s, house for a memorial day cookout! It was delicious food, and a gorgeous night. We planned CanJam and Heads Up. Heads Up is Ellen DeGeneres’s app and is hilarious. We played it for hours without even knowing. The night ended with a campfire and was just an all around amazing time. We are lucky to have so many great friends.
The day we had waited for: the boat went in the water! Originally we were supposed to take our friends out on the boat and had planned to for the last few weeks. However, we couldn’t get the boat in when it was supposed to, and the river was cold and kind of dirty still. We decided to post pone our friends and my family went out for a bit to make sure everyone worked on the boat. We got all the kinks worked out and now it’s ready for friends to come on! It was a beautiful day in the 80s, and both Aaron and I managed to get in! It was freezing, like your limbs go numb immediately, but it was worth it.
Matt’s girlfriend came, and we were celebrating Memorial Day with our swim suits.
I wakeboarded. I forgot how to jump at first, but after one fall and some discussions with Matt, I got back up and fell into the groove. Yes, it was cold, but absolutely worth it to feel the river and just get back out there! I am so ready for the summer.
This was an absolutely amazing weekend. It was full of family and friends, just the way I like it.
What did you do for Memorial Day?
How many swimsuits do you own?
I’m taking a little poll to see if I have too many, or not enough. I mean, can you ever have enough?
